Thermo and compensating wires

APPLICATIONS

Leads for thermocouples are to differentiate between compensating wire, thermo wire and thermocouple wire.
 
Leads out of substitute material are called compensating wire. They consist out of compositions, which are not identical with the thermal pair. The thermal electrical characteristics are identical with the proper thermal pair in a temperature range up to 200°C. They are marked as per IEC 60584 – DIN EN 60584 with the letter “C”.
Example: KC for NiCr-Ni compensating wire type K
 
Thermo wires offer in a temperature range up to 200 °C the same thermal tension and are having the same nominal chemical composition as the thermocouple. They are marked as per IEC 60584- DIN EN 60584 with the letter C which follows after the thermo pair code letter.
Example: JX for Fe-CuNi thermo wire type J
 
Thermocouple wires are consisting out of the same element material as the thermo pair. The operating temperature is determined by the insulation material.
